THE CURRENT STATE OF PLASTIC PACKAGING WASTE IN VIETNAM

“In Vietnam, approximately 1.8 million tons of plastic waste are generated each year, including over 30 billion plastic bags. Each household uses an average of about 1 kg of plastic bags per month, with up to 80% being used only once and then discarded. Plastic waste accounts for 8–12% of total daily solid waste, but only about 11–12% is properly treated, while the rest is buried, burned, or released into the environment. These figures clearly show the significant pressure of plastic packaging pollution, demanding strong action from both the community and businesses.”
